you would have to sacrifice a lewis hamilton or two (or more) to actually push the limits of one on this track. it could take that corner coming up a 1:09 flat out at over 180 mph but with that nasty bump any slight over-corrections.. dead. same goes for the other high speed sections. the ride height would probably have to raised a lot to even have a car come back after the lap. bmw estimated a 5:30 is possible but the best time was 7:29 (slowed at straights and on lower grip tires).

So, your bragging that a purpose built two seat sports car beat a heavy GT touring car that seats 4 comfortably. THE GTR can beat the ZR1 but not as easy as before because Nissan has made retuning the engine more difficult to do. Your ignorance of the history of the GTR is blantant and amusing. Stock GTRs were never impressive until this one. It was always the aftermarket tuning that brought out their true potential. Both are amazing, but at least learn what a GTR is - a godlike touring car.

My history of the GTRs is blantantly amusing! Why cause I never gave two shits about any of the past GTRs cause they WERE all garbage and over-rated. Im not denying that the new GTR is a badass machine. But it outweighs the ZR-1 by like 500lbs. Thats alot for cars of this caliber. Until Nissan gives the GTR more power and takes away alot of weight the GTR will always be that much behind the ZR-1. Also how is a ZR-1 a purpose built car? Its mostly meant to be a daily driver like all vettes

gt cars in race trim were doing 6min 10 secs 20 years ago and fi 1 in under 6, so for sure the times would be blitzed? if onley there would run in anger !

this “vette” is stock… maybe with grip tires (not much difference between oversteer and understeer, i mean the car is a bit heavy), anyways the Track Nurburgring Nordshleife is owned by BMW M3 GTR… The acr viper did oversteer too much..

It isn’t the course or the speed that is so tricky. It’s just that the track is so damn narrow!

comparing this vette to the SR8 is like apples to oranges. What’s more, I highly doubt that the SR8 could be made road legal in the US in the first place.

The one mystery in my mind is why the driver limited the speed to 175 mph on the long straight stretch starting at 6:57, when the ZR1 is capable of much more?

well thats ur loss lol. ur country is too strict on cars. and about the speed on the straight i dont think it had much more to give uphill and he couldnt have taken that corner any faster really without unsettling the car-we have got to remember this is an american car

That’s funny ooldskool. Seems to me that an off-the-shelf VIPER ACR holds the production vehicle record, followed by a Vette. Can’t remember the last time I saw a Jag, Aston Martin, or Mini Cooper at the track. I can’ knock British engineering, but I don’t see the UL leading the world anywhere new. For that, leave it to the US.

no the radical sr8 definately holds the record for production cars, and the radical sr3 turbo is ahead of the acr viper too. so that puts u down to at least 3rd in the production car record at the ring. i doubt the US are going to be pushing boundaries tbh, i think that will be the japs if anybody. the US are only just starting to make some cars that actually handle good. the japs have been doing that for a while now
